It appeared the rumored feud between Kanye West and Jay-Z was set to enter a courtroom. Reports claimed West was suing Jay over publishing income from Kanye’s catalog.
However, a representative for the College Dropout album creator denies he’s taking aim at his musical mentor. Roc-A-Fella Records and EMI are named as defendants in the lawsuit.
“The media reports are wrong,” the rep told XXL. “Kanye West did not sue Jay-Z. Mr. West sued a company that Jay-Z once owned a piece of, Roc-A-Fella Records. Jay-Z sold his interest in that company many years ago. There is no fight between Kanye West and Jay-Z.”
There has been speculation that Hov and Ye were beefing. However, Jay-Z posted a rare tweet in November 2018 to let the world know his verse on Meek Mill’s “What’s Free” was meant to make it clear that no one can pit him against his “brother.”
